Yellowstone Day 5 - Bears and Hot Springs

We expected to see wildlife in Yellowstone and everyone had their "animal" that they were excited for.  Derek wanted to see Bears.  By day 5, we were ribbing him that this trip would be bear-less. 
We spotted these three a couple of hundred yards away, so the pictures are taken from quite a distance. 











 

The hole on the side was from when someone was standing on this, fishing.  He stepped and the rock gave way, sinking his leg almost to the hip.  His leg was burned severely and flesh was gone.


Hook and Cook
The story was that men would fish from this rock, catch it, dip it in the geyser to cook it and serve it immediately to those on the shore.
